Underwater Hull Cleaning in the Keys

Marine growth develops quickly in the warm waters surrounding Key West. Algae, slime, barnacles and other hard growth can attach to your hull, running gear and underwater components, increasing drag and potentially affecting your boat’s performance.

Hulls Angels provides professional underwater hull cleaning for boats and yachts throughout Key West and the Lower Florida Keys. Our experienced divers clean your vessel in the water, allowing you to maintain the bottom without the expense and inconvenience of hauling the boat out.

Every cleaning includes more than growth removal. We inspect the visible underwater portions of your vessel and provide photographs and a detailed maintenance report so you can better understand the condition of your hull.

What Our Hull-Cleaning Service Includes

The exact cleaning process depends on your vessel, bottom paint and the amount and type of marine growth present. A typical service may include:

  • Cleaning the underwater hull
  • Removing growth from the waterline
  • Cleaning the keel, rudder and trim tabs
  • Cleaning propellers, shafts and other running gear
  • Inspecting visible underwater components
  • Checking the apparent condition of sacrificial anodes
  • Checking for fishing line or rope around running gear
  • Noting visible paint loss, damage or unusual conditions
  • Before-and-after photographs
  • A written hull maintenance report

If our diver observes a concern, we document it and notify you. Early awareness of depleted anodes, damaged running gear, entangled line or deteriorating bottom paint can help you address a small problem before it develops into a more expensive repair.

Hull Cleaning Catered to Your boat's bottom

Not every boat should be cleaned in exactly the same way. The appropriate tools and cleaning method depend on the type and condition of the bottom paint, the hull material and the severity of the growth.

Our goal is to remove marine growth while being mindful of the coating beneath it. A regularly maintained hull can generally be cleaned more gently than one covered in established barnacles and heavy growth.

Boats that have gone an extended period without cleaning may require additional time and labor. If you are unsure of your hull’s condition, contact us to discuss an inspection and estimate.

Schedule Your Hull Cleaning

Whether you need a one-time cleaning, an inspection after your boat has been sitting or dependable recurring service, Hulls Angels can help you protect and maintain your vessel.
